I started my professional journey working with youth, and to this day I still appreciate their energy, their resourcefulness, and their willingness to take risks in counselling.
The youth I support in my counselling practice want to come to counselling. They don’t come because their parents want them too, they come out because they understand that something needs to change for them, even if they’re not sure what it is.
I work with kids 16 and over, but if parents have any questions regarding working with kids younger than that, they should call me directly. I’m happy to talk with parents too!
Stress Depression Anxiety Trauma
Most of my career has been spent supporting people in managing symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
I have training in EMDR, and Level One Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, but these days I have been integrating breath practices into my work. The reason is simple: breath practices are really effective for managing anxiety and stress, and you can use them anytime, anyplace, and anywhere.
Sometimes the things that attract us to our partners become the things that can drive us up the wall about them. Kids, finances, careers, other people… It can be hard to find balance in relationship, and harder to maintain that balance.
If you’ve found that you’ve fallen into a rut with your partner, and your primary communication form is ongoing bickering about the same issues, know that you’re not alone. It’s easy to fall into patterns of communicating that don’t actually serve your relationship, and while it is possible, it takes work, time, and commitment to change those patterns.
